Online Notary

Online notarization, wherever life takes you.

Complete an eligible notarization online with a commissioned Pennsylvania notary. Eligibility depends on the document, transaction, receiving party, identity requirements, applicable law, and platform capability.

What is remote online notarization?

Remote online notarization allows a signer and notary to meet through live audio-video communication while working with an electronic record. Identity verification, the notarial certificate, and the electronic notary seal are completed through approved technology.

When online notarization may be a good fit

Online notarization can be a convenient option when travel is difficult, your schedule is tight, or you simply prefer to avoid an in-person trip for an eligible document. It works well for evening and weekend needs, provided the transaction, document, and receiving party allow a remote, electronically notarized record.

What you’ll generally need

  • Eligible, current identity documentation
  • Your direct participation and presence for the full session
  • A device with a working camera, microphone, and stable internet connection
  • Your document ready, but not signed in advance unless you are specifically instructed that early signing is permitted
  • A clear understanding of your recipient’s and document’s requirements

Does my document need to be notarized?

Wells cannot determine whether your document legally requires notarization or select the correct notarial act for you. If you are unsure, contact the document’s recipient, issuing agency, document preparer, or an attorney before booking.

Where can the signer be?

A remotely located signer may be outside Pennsylvania, subject to the document, transaction, receiving party, identity requirements, applicable law, and platform capability. The Pennsylvania notary must be physically located in Pennsylvania during the remote notarization.

What happens during the appointment?

Every Wells appointment follows the same readiness, identity, signing, and payment path. See the full How It Works walkthrough for a step-by-step preview before you book.

Before you book
